Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is an international program proven to be effective. Peer-reviewed studies published in multiple countries, including Australia where the program originated, demonstrate that individuals trained in the program:

  • Increase their knowledge of the signs, symptoms, and risk factors of mental health problems.
  • Decrease the social distance between themselves and someone with a mental health problem.
  • Increase their confidence in helping someone experiencing a mental health crisis.
  • Can identify professional and self-help resources for individuals with a mental health problem.
  • Show increased mental wellness themselves.

Allowing a safe space for all to share thoughts and experiences.

Jena and Larissa were both fantastic facilitators. They made sure everyone was ready and comfortable off the bat. I really liked how there was a brief overview of how to use Zoom, that was something that I had never experienced before when attending a Zoom meeting/course. I also liked that there was an open discussion with the team, allowing time for everyone to share their thoughts. I enjoyed the welcoming and safe atmosphere that was given. They were also both very knowledgeable and prepared to deliver the training.

Creating a safe, and positive workshop. It was amazing to break out in groups and feel comfortable to have “life-like” situations we can find ourselves in at any time.

You created a safe space to ask questions and give answers even when we were unsure! You were sure of yourselves and very informative!
