YMCA of Oakville Child Care Update: Impact during Province-wide School Closures

Based on the Ministry of Education’s announcement to close Ontario schools until further notice for in-person learning following the current April School Break, please be advised that our school-age before and after school program is paused to align with the school closure. There is no impact to our YMCA of Oakville toddler and preschool child care programs.

School Age Child Care
School Age Child Care Programs will be closed until further notice in alignment with school closures.

School Age Child Care Payments
Please note April payment could be delayed to adjust for the program closure. Your April payment will reflect your scheduled days prior to the April closure.

Toddler and Preschool Child Care
Our full-day toddler and preschool centres are not impacted and will remain open. Should there be any change to this plan, we will share this information through our centres, Weemarkable, and here on our website.

The safety of our children, families and staff is our first priority. This is a rapidly evolving situation and is subject to change. Please pay attention to the media and monitor our website for further updates.

Please continue to practice advised COVID-19 health precautions! Remember to continue with frequent hand washing, physical distancing, covering your cough/sneeze, and most importantly, limit your contact with others who are not in your household.

Thank you for your ongoing efforts to adhere to public health measures to ensure our programs remain a safe place.

Providing a strong foundation for learning in a safe environment.

YMCA Child Care supports the healthy growth and development of children and promotes a lifelong appreciation for learning. Our YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum prepares our youngest children for academic success in the areas of language and literacy, math, science and technology and the arts. Our before and after school programs provide school-age children with a safe, supervised and active experience that fosters social skills and develops a sense of community.

Waiting List Policy

If the program is operating at capacity, your child will be added to the centre’s waiting list. There is no fee for a family to be placed on our waiting list. Available child care spaces are to be filled by families on the waiting list according to the ordinance of sequential dates as indicated on the child care waiting list forms. Priority will be given to families wishing to register their child in a full-time space. Families transferring from other YMCA Child Care centres, or siblings who are already registered will have priority for the next available space.

When space becomes available the first person on the waiting list is contacted and asked if they are interested in the space or if they would prefer to remain on the waiting list. If they cannot be reached on the first attempt, contact will be attempted again on the next business day. If they cannot be reached, or do not return our call within 24 hours after the second call, the next person on the list will be contacted. A family has 24 hours after initial contact has been made to confirm their acceptance of the child care space. Families on the waitlist can contact the supervisor at any time to determine their standing on the waiting list.
