Youth Leadership Fundamentals

Begin your Leadership Journey – LEARN about yourself as a LEADER. The YMCA of Oakville Youth Leadership Fundamentals Program is designed for youth aged 12-14 to discover their leadership potential, identify their strengths and develop confidence in themselves and their abilities. The program incorporates topics including leadership styles, teamwork, self-confidence, communication, and problem solving. Participation in the program gives youth the opportunity to participate in an inclusive and empowering environment. Through experienced-based learning and hands-on activities, youth can develop skills and emerge as a leader.

Program Outcomes

Throughout participation in Youth Leadership Fundamentals youth will:

  1. Gain a positive sense of self and improve their self-confidence.
  2. Acquire a basic understanding of fundamental leadership components.
  3. Connect with peers and begin to develop a positive support network.
  4. Recognize the importance of giving back to the community and meaningful community acts of service.
  5. Launch their leadership journey and pathway.
