Child Care: Daily screening

Parent(s)/guardian(s) must perform a daily screening of their child(ren) for signs of COVID-19 before coming to the YMCA of Oakville Before School program each day.

  • If ANY ONE of the symptoms related to COVID-19 are present in a child/staff, they are not permitted in YMCA Child Care programs (and are advised to undertake a COVID-19 test)
  • Those who do not get a COVID-19 test will be excluded for 14 days
  • Those who test negative for COVID-19 must be excluded until 24 hours after symptom resolution
  • And those who test positive for COVID-19 must be excluded from the Child Care program for 14 days after the onset of symptoms and clearance has been received from Halton Region Public Health

Daily self-assessment requirements

As parent/guardian, you agree that you will:

  • take your child(ren)’s temperature to check for fever (higher than 37.8ºC)
  • monitor your child(ren) for signs and symptoms (including atypical symptoms) of COVID-19
  • complete the COVID-19 Daily Self-Assessment for your child(ren)
  • keep your child home and contact your child’s school your YMCA Child Care supervisor if your child has signs or symptoms

If your child(ren) has/have any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 at home, you agree you will:

  • keep your child(ren) at home
  • have your child(ren) self-isolate
  • follow guidance to have your child(ren) tested for COVID-19
  • children must remain home until test results are received

Symptoms of COVID-19, the disease caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus, range from mild—like the flu and other common respiratory infections—to severe. If even one of the symptoms related to COVID-19 is present in a child or staff, they are not permitted into the child care/school. They are hereby advised to take a COVID-19 test. Should they decide to not to take a COVID-19 test, they will be required to stay home and self isolate for 14 days, or seek advice from a primary health care provider.
