Positive Health Management Programs
A proactive approach to health management can be minimize the impacts of chronic ailments. Through our partnerships with leading community health practitioners and organizations, the YMCA of Oakville is here to proactively help address your mental and physical well-being in a safe and supportive environment.

Is Type 2 Diabetes a concern for you?
The Oakville YMCA offers a Free Program called Small Steps for Big Changes that includes individual counselling and support to help you make sustainable diet and exercise changes.
What we offer
- Evidence-based support – Developed by the Diabetes Prevention Research Group at the University of British Columbia
- Offers clients 6 individual one-hour sessions with a Certified Coach to design and support your program
- Free Membership to the YMCA while you are in the program (4-6 weeks)
- Free follow-ups with your coach at 12 and 24 months

Living with Parkinson’s
Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement. Individuals may have difficulty walking, balancing and coordinating movement with symptoms that progress gradually.
Life with Parkinson’s Disease can present special challenges. If you are struggling to manage the daily challenges of Parkinson’s, our qualified staff can help.
We have recently partnered with the organization Passion for Parkinson’s to provide Free Exercise Programs for those in our community who are living with Parkinson’s.
Our Living with Parkinson’s Program now includes Tai Chi and Indoor Cycling Classes.
- Tuesdays, 1:30 PM – Cycle class
- Thursdays, 1:30 PM – Tai Chi

Engage in a vibrant community of like-minded individuals focused on fostering a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. This program emphasizes physical wellness, mental well-being, and meaningful social connections through group activities, educational sessions, and wellness challenges.
