Jelly Beans

Who doesn’t love Jellybeans? She will be the YMCA’s Camp Supervisor. We can speak for days about her background, but we’ll keep it short and sweet. Jellybeans holds an advanced diploma in Child & Youth work and has also gained great experience over the years working in various departments here at the YMCA of Oakville. She states, “I can honestly say I am the happiest in the position I am currently working in, which is Camp Supervisor and Community Outreach.” She explains that this is because she is having an impact with our children and youth. She is also a young staff member advocating for her personal community and youth voice within the YMCA.

Jellybeans has had the privilege of being part of the YMCA’s Young Ambassadors Program and met youth from other YMCAs in Canada and all over the world. She adds, “I have a passion for camp and the impact it creates for the children and youth in our community, as well as a passion for helping and empowering others.” If she isn’t a prime example of who we are at the YMCA, I don’t know who is.

What is her favourite thing about camp? Hmmm. This was a tough question to answer for Jellybeans. She wasn’t quite able to answer this because there are simply too many things that she loves about camp. However, one thing that’s high up on her favourites list is helping our campers and staff create lifelong memories and friendships. It doesn’t end there, though. Similarly, to other camp staff, another one of Jellybeans’ favourite things is Theme Day! She said that it’s the best way to end the week and see everyone’s themed costumes and play new activities.

Jellybeans said she’s looking forward to another great summer with our new and returning staff for Camp 2023! She is excited to reunite with our returning campers and welcome new campers as well. Jellybeans predicts that she will be meeting many new faces and reconnecting with the more familiar faces as this is her eleventh summer working with the YMCA’s Summer Day Camp!
