A vibrant, healthy community offers opportunities for everyone.

For the YMCA, that often means stepping forward with a new program or service to address specific and unique needs in our community. It may also mean reaching out, beyond our walls to deliver programs where they are needed most.

Child & Family Development

The YMCA offers programming for families with children 0-5 yrs in locations throughout the community. Focusing on family bonding, language skills, reading and more, these free programs are made available to anyone – regardless of location or financial barriers.

Programs in the Community

We also offer programs for children & teens 6+ yrs in a variety of convenient locations, allowing them to be impacted by YMCA programs all over Oakville.

Community Events

The YMCA of Oakville is proud to participate in national YMCA events throughout the year, including YMCA Healthy Kids Day and YMCA Peace Week.

The Priority Neighbourhoods Project, a community initiative that began in 2012 with an initial grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, provides free, accessible programs to children, teens and young adults in four identified priority neighbourhoods in Oakville: Kerr Village, Dorval community, Clearview community and 6th Line and Elm Road area. The initial grant provided was a three-year $225,000 grant, the largest received in Halton.

Since it began, the Priority Neighbourhoods Project has offered more than 33 new programs focusing on physical fitness and the arts, reaching a total of 2,286 children, youth and families in the identified priority neighbourhoods. The extension of this project, made possible with the additional 2016-18 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, will help the YMCA continue to meet changing needs and offer free and accessible programs for more people in Oakville.
