The Adventure Centre at the Peter Gilgan Family YMCA offers 10 different (10m/30 ft) climbs and over 3,000 square metres / 10,000 square feet of bouldering area, with a multitude of movable holds and angles. We can provide a climb to challenge every age and level of climber.
How Do I Get Started as a Climber?
Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome in the Adventure Centre. We offer free lessons to members for child/youth or adults. Children must be five years and older to climb in a harness (harnesses for younger children and different abilities are based on availability). An adult parent or guardian must accompany children under 13 years of age. Belay lessons are available for climbers aged 13 and older.
For the safety of all climbers, participants over the age of 10 and parents of climbers under the age of 10 are recommended to take the Safe Climber/Bouldering Orientation Session. Please see the Adventure Centre Staff for more information.
The YMCA of Oakville offers free climbing lessons to child, youth and adult members.
