COVID-19 Response Update – August 18, 2020

We are opening soon!

Although Phase 3 Reopening for Ontario came into effect for our region of Halton on July 24, we made the decision to delay reopening our facilities for members. We are now excited to share with you more details about our staged approach to re-opening our Peter Gilgan YMCA.

Our planned date for re-opening is Tuesday, September 8, at 8:00 am.

Our No. 1 priority remains the Health and Safety of all staff, volunteers, families, members and community.

We know that not everyone is ready to return right away and so we are opening our YMCA in stages. Our Stage One Reactivation Program Schedule includes safe, practical ways for YMCA members to ease back into participation. We will add longer hours, more programs, and services as members return in the stages to come. More information available here.

In the meantime, we have launched new and exciting initiatives such as Outdoor Fitness Classes to keep you engaged. Moreover, you can enjoy your favourite workouts and activities for all ages online.

The YMCA supports the Ministry of Education’s announcement regarding the reopening of licensed childcare operations in Ontario.

We are currently working on the reopening of a few selected licensed Child Care Centres. We have contacted our Child Care families to discuss their child’s, or children’s, start date as we proceed with a phased approach to re-opening in the coming weeks.

Our focus is to ensure safety for families, children and educators.
