Nature and Scope

The Camp Coordinator will directly report to the Supervisor, Camp & Youth Engagement, and provide direct Administrative support to YMCA Summer Day Camps, and Program Support to the delivery of March Break camp and off-season Outdoor Education Programs.  The Coordinator, Camp & Outdoor Education will often be the first point of contact for families, and will ensure a high level of service and care at all times. Additionally, the Coordinator, Camp & Outdoor Education is instrumental in ensuring positive experiences for participants and delivering high quality programs, based on YMCA mission & the needs of individuals in the programs.

Salary and Work Schedule

  • Full time; must be available to work evenings and weekends occasionally


  • Collaborates with the YMCA contact centre and Membership Services Team to ensure all family inquiries, questions and concerns are followed up within a timely manner
  • Manages all online registration issues, challenges and follow up
  • Manages and tracks summer camp financial assistance budget
  • Ensures effective communication with families through managing and updating the family website, blog & weekly parent emails
  • Coordinate logistics with schools and external community partners to plan off-season Outdoor Education Programming
  • Collects and organizes recruitment information (i.e. cover letters, resumes, and new hire packages) for all summer camp staff
  • Manages the ordering of pre-camp equipment, including summer camp uniforms, communication devices and first aid equipment
  • Assists with the orientation and training of administrative functions for summer camp directors, and supports product knowledge training for membership services staff
  • Plans and prepares programming for March Break Day Camp
  • Supports the development and facilitation of off-season Outdoor Education programming

Knowledge, Skill, Ability and Experience

  • Strong computer skills. Working knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Post secondary education in a related field (or in process)
  • 2+ seasons working within a summer day camp or overnight camp program
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR ‘B’
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong team work and leadership skills
  • Valid Criminal Reference Check & Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Valid unrestricted Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is essential
  • Knowledge of Unison Software is an asset
