Peter Gilgan Family YMCA
Every year, on the first Monday of YMCA Peace Week, we host our YMCA Candlelight Walk for Peace.
This free family event invites you to explore peace from a local, national and global perspective and walk with us by candlelight through neighbourhood streets in our community.
As part of our work on Truth and Reconciliation in Halton, our candlelight walk will welcome Stacey Laforme, Chief, Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation and Stephen Paquette, Traditional Knowledge Keeper to help us understand the importance of peace from an Indigenous perspective. A special Land Acknowledgement plaque will be unveiled during the event.
This event is open to all ages. Bring your whole family to join us in exploring the importance of peace. Hot chocolate will also be provided to warm you up after the walk.
