Kyle Barber
President and CEO

The YMCA of Oakville’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Kyle Barber as the YMCA of Oakville’s new President and CEO. After conducting a comprehensive, national search, and review of more than 120 applications, the board with support from YMCA Canada selected Barber to lead the association effective September 16, 2013.

“We are very excited to welcome Kyle Barber into this position at the Oakville Y,” said Lindsay Williams, board chair. “He brings with him more than eight years of experience and expertise as the president and CEO of the YMCA of Northumberland and a strong track record in sound strategic planning, program excellence and leading dedicated, high performance teams.”

“I am honoured and excited to step into this role with the YMCA of Oakville, an association known for their innovation and dedication to building healthy communities,” said Barber. “I look forward to working with the board, staff and community leaders to address Oakville’s issues and ensure that the YMCA is a valued community partner in developing solutions.”

Prior to leading the YMCA of Northumberland, Barber served as Executive Director of Willowgrove, a non-profit organization which provides outdoor education, group retreats and summer camping in Stouffville and Bancroft, Ontario.

Earlier Barber worked for the YMCA of Greater Toronto in several progressive roles within Health and Fitness at the North York YMCA and Metro Central YMCA. He has a Masters of Human Science from Springfield College.

“On behalf of the board, I would like to thank YMCA staff, volunteers and community stakeholders who provided their input on the desired skills and attributes of the new CEO to the CEO Selection Committee,” says Williams. “Thanks also to Kathy Robinson for her continued commitment and leadership as acting President and CEO during the transition.”
